ON MY 1995 BIRD LX v6 3.8
80mm Lightening MAF Part #: XL3Z-12B579-AA / $120 + $75 core charge

Do you advise me to use this to replace my MAF to this?

Looking at this at the moment with questions...

Hand Ported and Polished 3.8v6 intake manifolds


- Port matched
- Lower intake ported all the way through
$130 +Core*
- Cut and welded for plenum access
- Increased plenum volume
- Shortened runners for higher RPM range
- Port matched
- Runners ported all the way through
- Crossover enlarged for 60mm TB
$400 +Core* and Shipping

Now if they enlarge the crossover to 60mm where can I find a throttle body to work with that? AND BTW...what is our MAF at anyways, how many mm? Im told that there can be a 15hp increase by going to a 73mm C&L MAF.

Would your recommend that i change my fuel pump to the 190LPH?

What Ive decided to buy so far...magnecore wires, new plugs (any recommendations?), rpm cam 216/225 single port, valve spring set, push rod set and 1.73 roller rockers. (any problems with the valve cover?)

Already bought: B&M shift kit and tranny cooler

And hopefully my head guy will be able to p&p my intake and heads.

And hopefully Ill get an email from that [email protected] (if im rememberin his email off the top of my head) guy here who's sportin that nice intake he makes.


I just got out of the sevice and of course theyre still screwing me. I havent gotten my dd214 and i cant get my unemployment til i do. So Im broke as a joke with a nice pretty purple lawn ornament due to a head gasket. Luckily for me...theyre going to back pay if the navy gets off thier *** and sends me my dd214. So I got a grand to spend and this is what I want to do with it. I miss my baby gents...its been over a month :eek:( I got an experiened mechanic who's going to help me do this and Im learning a lot from you guys and him. Im also learning what a b**** it is to find 3.8 performance parts that arent ridiculously supersixed priced lol.

I wanna say to a lot of you guys...thanks for puttin up with annoying rookie questions. I just dont want to buy a part that im gonna end up just lookin at. Know what I mean?

my bad fellas...a chip too from fordchips or dennis depending on how much he's gonna tax me lol.

Sounds like you've got everything pretty much covered. Where are you getting the MAF? Dennis can probably get a deal for you on an 02 GT MAF and burn the chip for you also. Forget about the C&L. Maybe check with RGR on the TB. Is he doing the P+P work? I'd get the larger pump, I'm sure you'll need it.

i've heard from various posts that the 80mm is to big the tb opeining is only 50mm, i went with the c&l is the closest size to the 3 opening on the tb and the outside of the maf to the tb.

80mm should be fine, but remember that the 02GT MAF is better than the LMAF unless you are supercharged (GT MAF is more accurate, but could be pegged by a SCed engine).

C&L is junk. You gain power because it throws off your a/f ratio (lean). this bad because you will detonate under hot conditions.

Robin, you might want to think about a set of headers, either 96-97 stock, or you can use any headers made for the SC.

Are you replacing your radiator? It's a good idea, but you can get away with flushing the system really good.

ok got the c&l and the j-chip is there a better setup to run i'm pretty sure he wrote the maf in the program. what is the best maf to run on n/a?

The C&L has no transfer function so I'm not sure if there is a program for it. You could go with a stock 70mm MAF.

Thanks guys...if we were at a bar...Id buy a round. lol Ill give Dennis a call. He seemed a lil upset when I called last time. Probably someone else giving him a hard time. IT IS the christmas season so the a holes are in season, lord knows we see our fair share at my Dad's business.

you will only want to go with the 205/216 cam on a tbird, the 216/225 is too agressive for a heavy car. No need for a 80mm LMAF, stock is fine, spend the money on a 56MM BBK throttlebody instead.
Stock Fuel pump should be ok
Should get 19# injectors
STAY WAY from c&l MAF's

so would prob be to my best nature to find another maf to run and get my chip reburned for it
