I have seen 7.5 housings before but never one with this big "S" on it before.
This came from a 1984 Mark VII and the tag reads
WGX BD 3L01
3 27 A75S407B

Does this "S" mean anything special?

I don't know what it means either, but they're fairly common. Nothing special.

The one you see behind it is it's replacement an 8.8. Just using it for the axels.
