Both RWD IRS Cars in the mid 3500lb range (3300 (3 series) and 3700(5 series))

The 3 series has a coupe, 5 series don't. They price in the low 40s with options.

230HP V6 on both. 3 series coupe looks kinda like a small, modern bird (well sorta). 200 ft/lb of torque (Not quite the Base V6. SC or V8!)

3.23 or 3.73 axles. Very low trans gearing (4.32 in first). Must be a rocket on takeoff.

here are some more specs

I Wonder why ford or Lincoln don't have anything like that? BMW isn't starving.

because BMW is a niche manufacturer and sticks to a single goal....they dont bring in cars for the masses.you either buy the "ultimate driving machine" or you buy something else.

328 is for poseurs, get the 335i and the dealer installed upgrade. 425ft-lb of torque.....better buy your tires in sets of six!

But they are selling a $40K+ base vehicle that has barely more power (you can argue that either way) than what we drive. The 528 cost 45K!

So you you want any upgrades you are looking north of 50K then.

Hate to nitpick, but isn't it a 230HP INLINE six, not V?

I've never known BMW to make a V6...

You don't buy a 328, if you do your doing just to say "I own a BMW". If you are into cars at all, you get the 335i. My chiropractor has one and my God is it a nice lookin car. Turbocharged I6. Nothing against MN12's, but I'd take a 335i over my thunderbird any day. They are pretty quick. 5.4 sec 0-60! I'd like to see a mostly stock thunderbird do that. 300 hp and torque. My chiropractor has gotten his up to 125 mph, then began out run out of road. And this is all a 6 cylinder. If you go to the V8 you get 414hp, about the same torque, 4.7 0-60. limited at 155 mph. The only thing a MN12 is better at (statistics wise) is gas mileage, and probably drag coefficient (tbird and marks).
