While driving through Youngstown Ohio today on I77, I spotted a Summit 'store', and decided to stop in to see what they had.

They didn't have any shocks (besides OEM replacements), but did have an Eibach kit that I've wanted for a while.

It supposedly drops the front end 1.5", and the back 1". That's cool with me, the raked look will be nice. But I'm worried about one thing, the tires:

Right now I have 255/50/17's on Lincoln LS wheels, and I'm worried about the tires smashing into the fenders, and also rubbing against the upper ball joints when the car is lowered.

Anybody who's got their Tbird/Cougar lowered and has fat tires who can help me with this would be appreciated.

255-50-17 will fit on a lowered Bird / Cougar, but I think you might run into problems with the offset of the LS wheels. They will likely have to come out about 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch for enough clearance to the front suspension.

BTW, the Eibachs generally sit pretty much level once they settle in. You may even experience a bit of droop in the rear. Myself and many others are using Airlift bags in the rear coils to help keep the fenders off fat tires in the rear.

Thanks gents, that makes sense.

Never thought about using an air-coil insert, that would do the trick if I have problems at the back end.

If it weren't for the original springs being kinda soft on the corners (car still sits normal, doesn't sag) I'd leave them alone. That and there's no replacement that's stiff without lowering it.

Well, I'll report back then when they're in (within the month).

Can you guys check out my shocks question - I want to order them ASAP :D?
