Hi, before I go freaking myself out trying to get new parts for a rotted brake line, does anyone know what the dimensions are for the brake line -- metal -- for the front left (driver's side) line on a 97 LX 4.6? I'm guessing 3/16", and maybe 12-14 inches long, and probably double-flared, but I could be way off. I've got to tackle this soon, obviously can't drive anywhere until I get it fixed, and I'm trying to get organized here for the job. Any sage information would be much appreciated!

Yes, it should be 3/16 and use double flairs.

If you plan on doing brake lines both now and in the future; I would recommend buying line in bulk coils, getting a handful of fittings, and getting a basic flair tool. Being able to make your own lines at whatever length you need is pretty handy.

Thanks, Thunderstruck. Good advice. That helps ease my mind. Not fun to see the brake pedal bottom out. I'll get a double-flare tool; I've used a single flare tool before and done well after some trial and error. Kind of tricky stuff though.
