After installing new gears you need to pre-heat the gears just like new brake rotors. Here is how to do that:
  • The first time you drive the car, only drive it about 15 minutes or so; DON'T accelerate hard or drive extremely fast.
  • Stop the car and let the gears cool off for 2-3 hours, unless it's very cold outside then maybe a little less.
  • Drive again for about 30 minutes or so; no hard acceleration or fast driving speeds as before, and let the gears cool off again.
  • Then drive the car about 45 minutes or so, no hard acceleration or fast driving yet. Let the gears cool one more time.
After that give the gears HELL. If you don't do this your gears may whine.
