i just went and purchased a camshaft sensor for my 3.8 thunderbird and they gave me the part it called for i came home took it all apart and the one on the car was smaller than the one they gave me took it back and it was the same part number as all the other 3.8s come to find out i had to get one off a 97 ford Taurus with a 3.0 can anyone explain to me why this is

Originally the the SHO, 3.0 and SC shared most all their ignition components with DIS on the N/A 3.8 the Cam sensor changed and I figure you have the newer style on the car and they gave you the older style.

Most likely BWD screwed up.

I find that the BWD# CSS804 should be the right one (that sensor is only used in 96-97). So there is the 89-95 sensor, 96-97 and 98+.
