here lately my car has been running rough it idles and runs as smooth as a new car sometimes and sometimes you can feel like a miss and the alternator gauge bogs down and then when it smooths out it goes back to normal its also has a brand new alternator in it having the air on doesn't make a difference and it seems like on take off it is real sluggish and it feels like it slowly gets power at take off and then it just burst to full power like it builds it up and when it runs rough you can give it gas a when it smooths out black exhaust comes out of the tail pipes and it has got my rear bumper covered
I put a new mass air flow sensor on it and gave it a tune up spark plugs wires and pcv also went over the vacuum lines and replaced some and didn't seem to get and better results it has it running so rough at times I believe its effecting the transmission
any suggestions on what it could be Im leaning toward camshaft or crankshaft position sensor hopefully not the egr valve
thanks

Some Tips:

Sentences. It's really hard to parse what you are saying when it's all ran together like that.

What year car is it?

What engine does it have?

What aftermarket mods does it have? Cone filter, 90mm maf, underdrive pulleys, etc.

Does the AC work?

List all the things you've already changed to try to fix this.

Did it start suddenly, or was it like that when you bought it?

What do the spark plugs and wires look like? Have you examined the plugs?
If you remove the plugs, do it cold, before the car has been run that day.

Let's start with this stuff, and go from there. :grin2:

its a 1995 4.6 with a flat air filter. I have recently replaced the mass air flow sensor and plugs, wires, and pcv but it seemed to slowly get worse. Everything I have done has not had any effect on it. The air conditioner also works and blows out ice cold air, but it doesn't seem to matter if its on or off it still runs the same. There is also a new alternator on it.
thanks
