New alternator, barely 2 month old battery, new mega fuse. Still no charging. All fuses check out fine. Grounds appear to be ok.

Any ideas where to go from here guys? With the alternator comepletely disconnected i have no battery light but with the alternator connected i get a battery light. Shouldn't it be light constantly at that point? Does the ECM control charging on a 96 bird with a 4.6. I'm lost where to try next.

thanks in advance for any help

It's very simple either the alt is or the mega fuse

Switch the alt from your truck and put it on your car, that will tell you if the alt is the problem (assuming the truck isn't a 4.2). It's not unheard of to have brand new parts be defective.

While the battery is out, check for continuity from the alt terminal to the battery terminal.

If it's good, you're good there. If, however, it's open, or a high enough resistance, then it's time to start finding out where the problem is.
