I have a 95 tbird that wont turn off.
I have the ignition switch out and I am using that to turn the car on and off.
The plastic rod that pushes the switch back and forth will only push the rod to start and it will not pull it to the off position.

Is it easier to just get a new steering column from a junkyard? or try to take this nightmarish device apart and fix it?

If it is a tilt column you have a 2 peace plastic rod that is connected with a small metal pin at the
tilt column flex point.Your pin has fallen out,it will push but not pull. You must remove and seperate
the column at the flex point to get at the rod and reinstall your pin.I just had to do this myself.

Yup. It's what the Cableman said.

Read THIS THREAD for info and pictures.

I'd imagine that it would be just as easy to take the column apart and replace the pin as it would be to replace the column.
