A lot of insurance companies will mail you a check with both your name and the body shop's. That way, you sign over the check to the shop when it's done. My ins. just wrote a check to me. It all depends on the company, ask them.

That price sounds about right, I was gonna mention when you origonially posted about it that it would probably be from $2000-$2500.

I got backed into in a parking lot 6 months ago. Knocked the lense off my corner light (didnt break), put a small crack in the headlight panel, and put a small dent where the bumper and feder meet. They estimated it at about $850, and I fixed it all myself for less than $5 (silicone for the corner light) and about 2 hours time.

I was worried about whether they would write the check in my name or not also. It all depends on the insurance company. I didnt even have to take my car to get an estimate. An appraiser from the other persons insurance company came out to estimate the damage. I think you can just ask them to put it in your name, but I could be wrong. Good luck!

most of the time the insurance company will just write a check to you considering that you can take the car to whomever you would like. What i did was i got a check for around $2700 for my damage when a girl hit me at a stop sign. Anywho, her insurance company sent an appraiser and then they sent me the 2700. I took it to a buddies body shop and he just said to endorse the check and he'll get the rest from the insurance company. Came out a little over $4500 but a job well worth it considering i didn't pay $0.01.
