Check engine light/weather conditions

My sister has a 1994 4.6 Lincoln Towncar with about 60K miles. The engine always works well and gets good gas mileage. The check engine light will occasionally go on, but only when the weather is unusually warm and dry. Assuming there is a connection, would anyone care to venture a guess as to the cause?

Probably related to the air/fuel ratio, or maybe the engine running at the lean limit.

Why ask for a guess, when you can get the code scanned?

It is probably stored in the memory.

I was reading through the flow chart and pinpoint test about this, and found the following. Any chance that may be part of the problem?

ML10 MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) INTERMITTENTLY ON: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT STO SHORT TO GROUND

Note: If vehicle will not start, go to Pinpoint Test Step AA1 if equipped with Distributorless Ignition (DI), AB1 if equipped with Low Data Rate Electronic Ignition, and AC1 if equipped with High Data Rate Electronic Ignition. The MIL will come ON when there is a Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code present. Service any Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes before proceeding.

Refer to Quick Test Appendix, Section 5A for description of MIL function.

If pass codes are output, continue with this Test Step.
o Enter Key On Engine Off Continuous Monitor Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM). Refer to Quick Test Appendix, Section 5A .
o Observe VOM or STAR LED for indication of a fault while a small section of the EEC-IV system harness is wiggled, shaken or bent in the following locations:
Harness closest to Data Link Connector to the dash panel.
Dash panel to the PCM.
Dash panel to the MIL.

Is a fault indicated?
Yes
SERVICE short to ground. RERUN Quick Test .

No
UNABLE to duplicate fault at this time. If the MIL flashed on intermittently with pass codes (111-10-111), then testing is complete. The fault occurred over 40/80 warm-up cycles ago. Diagnostic Trouble Codes are not stored in memory beyond 40/80 warm-up cycles.
