chaos theory, custom headers

well, what can go wrong, DOES go wrong. every possible problem has happened to me in this motor build. i FINALLY got my new motor running like a champ with open kooks headers. i got her on the trailor just fine back to chicago. when i was backing my bird off the ramp, something hung up. turns out it caught the driver side downtube and bent it down into the steering linkage :( one of the pipes has a full 90 bend. can i bend this back? what should i do now?

in this pic, the header should continue at an angle so that you can not see the grond.

Wow, that really sucks. While I'm sure you could bend it back, you'd still have a ton of issues with it. Better to just replace it.

So after doing all that work to the car you were going to drive it in the winter and risk some ya-hoo hitting you b/c they aren't used to driving in snow and such?

And to CHICAGO nonetheless??? lol

Man, I just moved here...people are nuts. At least I drive West to work so I miss the traffic (and living in the far west burbs helps out a little as well).

well, not that i was going to drive it during the winter at all, but there is still no snow here, and i just spent $6,000 on the motor. now i have to pull it AGAIN and spend $800 on a new set. they do not sell just 1 header and kooks said the only palce in the world to get them is supercoupe performance. (aside from used)
after spending that kind of cash and taking almost a full month to build, i still haven't even taken her around the block :(

Damn that sux now its only use is officially an open header. why do you have to pull the motor wouldnt it be easier to just replace the bent header on the car?

to replace the header you must either pull the motor or drop the k member. i do not have access to a lift, so the k member would be a pita. i can get a cherry pickers fairly easy though. i just need to get my *** off the couch and spend a few days doin all the work.

I did my shorty headers in my driveway with a jack and jackstands on a stock car it took some time. long tubes might be more of a pita trying to get them up there with low ground clearance thou Im not sure. Either way ya you have to unbolt the motor, place a chunk of wood under the pan and jack it up...or use a cherry picker to just move it around for room
