My uncle was saying, that if you erase a code out of the computer it throws a code 1000, meaning more driving is required. I thought this was only true if you pull fuse 15, but is it true pertaining to erasing codes with a code scanner? If this is true, then i cant pass smog without getting new cats, cause 1 of them is bad, and i can see now, cause all the plugs on the driver side cat (which is the one that is bad) the plugs were fubar'd, had kinda whitish on it, rusted boots, gapped way out of spec.

Yes code p1000 is there til the engine has finished self diagnostics. Therefore if the regulated states do scan for codes and restrict p1000 codes, it looks like you may have to get it fixed. Another possibility is to get mil eliminators.
