I was test driving a car to see if it was worth while purchasing and when we got it back I popped the hood and there was coolent everywhere (after a taste test) and I hopped in the car and got my dad to look at the engine, well as soon as I get 4K RPM's the coolent started leaking everywhere, I can't really explain where it is coming from but if someone has a good picture of the engine, I could tell, but It was above the alternator.

I think it's the waterpump but I want to be sure, looking at how much this might cost me to buy, already looking at Brakes, Tires, maybe Ti-Rod's

What year was the car? If it was 96-97, I'd almost bet on the coolant crossover on the intake being cracked, it's a common problem.

before anyone flame you, you can using the search button on the top right. but i now when the search comes up you'll be in headache because using the search for pi intake pages and pages will come up.

so if someone is kind enough please post a link to the most appropriate pages here and please don't flame him. he's new and everyone being into this situation before right?

another idea is someone make a new thread with those part number listed and then moderator make it sticky, will save a lot of people a headache.

thanks.

Actually I should of added that I did use the search I went throw 4 pages of nothing untill I gave up, Just people talking about doing the mod, and talking about the mod, not how to do it, and what you need and the parts, heh

I'm not new to forums really, just this one so I should be well off, flame me at will if you really want, but flaming only comes back to bite you in the arse

Thanks, Ryan

heres some info copied and pasted from a couple of posts i made in this thread a few months back....

here's the ford parts list with part numbers for everything (except the intake itself) you need to do the pi intake swap.

Non PI Intake Gaskets x2: XW7Z-9439-AA
Water Pump O-Ring: F1VY-8507-A
Water Pump Nipple: F75Z-8555-AA
PI Coolant Hose (hardline): XR3Z-18B402-AA
Thermostat O-Ring: F1VY-8255-A
Alternator Bracket: 1R3Z-10153-AA

you will only need the alternator bracket if you dont have the updated non pi intake with the aluminum crossover. the updated non pi intake has the alternator bracket that you need. also the thermostat and water pump o-rings aren't neccessary but they are cheap insurance like i said before.

you will also need a few thingsfrom autozone:
90 degree elbow
1-2' of 5/8" rubber heater hose

the autozone stuff is needed to connect the heater core hose to the pi coolant hardline that runs through the valley. the reason for this is because the pi hardline exits the valley at the back of the driverside head and the npi hardline exits the valley at the back of the passenger side head. this was real simple to do.

You will also need to have the aluminum crossover tapped for the second coolant sensor. if you have the updated npi intake with the aluminum crossover just swap that to your pi intake instead of getting the pi crossover tapped. its easier and cheaper (i know a local shop around here wanted $35 to tap it). also if you have the updated npi intake with aluminum crossover you dont need to buy the new alternator bracket, you will already have it.

check modular depot and corral for good prices on pi intakes (i got one for $115. or you can buy one new for about $180 from dan newman. any more questions just ask.

Another Caveat, you better take a close look at wether the engine was overheated when all this coolant first started leaking... is the system full of stop leak, is that why the cars for sale? I wouldnt buy trouble when there are so many good T-birds out there, for cheap....

The car was not overheating when it started, I talked to him today and I said frankly I can't and won't buy this car unless I can get it for about 3 grand, and where are these nice Tbirds you talk about? Best one I found with everything I wanted is

4000 with 97,000 miles, Black with Grey Leather, and Power Moonroof, but the damn thing is in Georgia, I can't even find a flight to georgia, I want a car soon and with those basic things, Blue Black or even White, Power Sun Roof, Leather Interior, 4.6V8

Theres a difference between overheated, and overheating it when ya start it...think of it this way; the leak started some time ago, was it noticed right away, or was he running down the freeway at 90 mph? did it get caught in time , orare nice things like heads and such allready warped from excessive heat that is what i was trying to explain... how much is he concealing? Take a greyhound to Fla, bring a checkbook , or cash youll find a lot better deal here , no salt, no rust good luck ...

I'm willing to go to Flordia if I have to I want a Tbird, a Black with Tan Leather, Blue with Black Leather, basically Black Blue or White, Leather, Sunroof, 4 wheel disc, I have a fair amount of money to spend, just I can't really do it alone if I'm going from the states, I would and will need help from members like yourself. I also want a mon molested car ;)

I bought my 96lx v8 from a dealer in Dec of 2002 with a 3 month 3000 mile bumper to bumper warranty for $4900. Just gotta look around for a good deal. Unfortunatly I didn't know about the grenading intake problem till after the warranty was up otherwise i wouldn't have my plastic intake anymore lol
