Hey guys...I have a 95 3.8 and I want to change the tb to something like a 60mm or greater. I realize Ill have to change the maf and I plan on doing a new cam, springs, rollerrockers, new chip, push rod,replace the gasket and p&p the head and intake. and I also have the delta 40 flowmaster dual exhaust kit. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations? And where to find a good deal.

Im all about the questions lately.

The 56mm BBK is all that you will need for a TB, its hard to make the upper intake flow more air than the 56MM BBK TB provides.

i got the bbk 56 and it was tweeked by RGR...he says it should flow around 500cfm...which is plenty...you could also use a 60mm 5.0 tb...Flex makes an adapter plate for it...

a jump from 50 to 56 doesn't sound like much BUT its a 12% gain in airflow JUST from the size difference. The BBK also has a smoother transfer to improve airflow so more like a 15-20% gain.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND.

One of the major performance obstacles of the Ford 3.8L V6 is the tiny 50mm stock throttle body; thats the same sized used on the 2.3L four! BBK's 56mm throttle body is an improvement, but its not big enough for the really wacked out big valved, supercharged, turboed, and nitroused 3.8's/4.2's we're running now. For that reason, we now offer our specially ported and modified BigMouth upper intake which includes the 67mm throttle body, billet throttle body adapter plate, and the appropriate gaskets.

Cost: $800

PowerPak option price: $350


WHO WANTS TO PAY THIS MUCH? GEEZE. THERE'S GOT TO BE SOMEBODY ELSE OUT THERE NOT ON THE CRACK PIPE WHEN THEY GET TO THE COST FIGURE.

bigger than a 56MM is NOT NEEDED unless you are making serious power, A STOCK BBK will flow ~440cfm which is enough to feed Natural asperated 4.2L @ 6000rpm (which needs/uses 426cfm at that rpm)
Or stock 50mm flows around 330cfm which is enough to feed our 3.8L's decent to 5000rpm. Boost doesn't make a difference either UNLESS your power adder is after the TB.

i just noticed that rpm mustangs will set you up witha 60mm tb opening...if i go that route i have to find a 60 then lol.

after the tb...what do you have in mind would be needed to accomodate that much of air flow?
