this isnt really a big question but i was just wondering why do you need to crank the engine over manually after rebuilding it and when is it appropriate to do this? also how do you do it? iv always just wondered so i thought id ask....

For one thing if the timing is off = Blend valves and such . I cant fine it but a guy on here rebuilt his engine then cranked it and broke it BIG time

so basically any time you take the it down to the block, taking the heads off..?
also how is it done? how do you hand crank it?
you literally just hand crank the crankshaft?
