i just installed a radio in my car... bought the hookups & installed it myself saving myself $35 on the install.... now i notice whenever i put on the rear window defroster the radio gets static.... soon as i turn defroster off no static...

Is it grounded good? A lot of the time its just a poor ground that picks up static.
