I've seen some GM guys list "descreening" their MAF as a modification and in looking at my GT MAF, sure enough.. there's a screen infront of the sensor. Would there be any gains or benefits to removing this screen or should I just leave it alone?

Generally I put descreening GM MAF's (and Ford ones so equipped) in the same category as gutting/cutting up the MAF.

It's generally the same people recommending both, and the same people complaining later on that their idle sucks... so take it for what it's worth.

No, don't bother modifying your MAF. It won't make a bit of difference, as I cut the post out of the center of mine under the impression that I might get better flow characteristics. Luckily, my idle didn't suffer at all, nothing got screwed up, but it doesn't make a difference in performance, so I don't even bother listing it as a mod.

BTW, NEVER remove a screen from anything. It's purpose is to straighten out the air flowing thru it, so if you see one somewhere, leave it be.
