I started her up, waited for the RPMs to drop, everything was normal. I go, about 15 to a stopsign, hit the brakes, and the RPMs drop to about 400, then it goes back up again. I was thinking, thats wierd. Then it did it again at another stop sign before I got on the freeway. Then it was fine. Whats wrong with it?

Also, when my tranny shifts from drive to reverse, there is a small clunk in the rear, is that normal?

When was your last tune up? (plugs, wires, fuel filter, ect) If its been a while Id start with those.

The clunk could be coming from a number of different things. U joints, IRS bushings...first thing I would look into are the differential bushings. They are known to go bad and cause "clunks".

Good luck.

fuel filter i dont think was ever done. How much does it cost for that?

It has new hoses and spark plugs. And how much for the differential bushings to be replaced?

Fuel filter is 10 bucks and about 10 minutes of your time. Do a search on it and you'll find information on how to change it. Easy. :)

How old are the plug wires?

Differential bushings will cost you about $40. Go with polyurethane bushings instead of rubber, they will last longer. (Yours are rubber) You can find them on ebay or from MN12performance.com.

They are not hard to take out. Basic hand tools and an hour of your time is all you need if you know what you're doing. I dont know what a shop would charge..I dont ever let them touch my cars. Im sure if you do a search on "differential bushings" you'll find all sorts of info.
