Is the K&N FIPK Mount in the fender? Or is just pointlessly mounted in the engine compartment?

So you are saying that it indeed is mounted in the engine compartment?

yea the FIPK just has the filter with some bracket and some bolts so it will be sucking in hot engine air

you can do many other things with just the filter itself which only runs like $40 or $50 brand new.......you could remove the silencer and attach it at the bottom of the air box, inside the fender, or you can buy a 90-degree elbow at Lowes, or Home Depot, that can attack to your stock MAF, and with a short 3" diamter PVC pipe attach it at the other end........that is how i did it.......some people use a 90-degree PVC elbow as well......all of which are cheap solutions compared to that worthless FIPK
