I went up and down Woodward Ave yesterday evening from around 8:45 to 11:00, I was the only Mark around. There was another Lincoln but it was an MKS and he wasn't cruising. I also saw only one MN-12, it was a 96/97 Thunderbird, maroon like mine with no rear decklid spoiler. It was also not cruising, driven by an older lady.

Plenty of cars already cruising Woodward Ave and the official cruise isn't until mid August! The hot spot area seems to be Woodward Ave both ways from 13 Mile Rd north to where the southern tip of Old Woodward Ave is in Birmingham. It centers around Normandy Rd. The Royal Oak cops weren't hassling anybody, people/drivers seemed to be behaving themselves for now. During the daytime up to around 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. is when the older guys and their cars hang out, the kids start showing up around 8:30 to 11:00 p.m. There's a Shell gas station on NB Woodward Ave just south of Normandy Rd where a lot of cars park and "display", the strip mall across the street is where the kids start to gather.

Woodward is too busy for me! Anyway, I will be on Fort all day Saturday. If someone wants to go up and down Fort a couple of times, call me at 734-578-7008 . I will be in the Bird having a blast.

Woodward Ave isn't busy right now, so you can go there and go up and down all you want!

For Saturday I might be caravaning with the Mark VIII guys from the Lincolns of Distinction forum, their thread on it is HERE. There's talk of meeting for breakfast somewhere.

How's your TBird running? Mine's still dead, waiting for either a resurrection or a burial after the vultures pick it apart.

I signed up there but it won't let me post in that section. I posted in the new users section thinking that would unlock me from the thread, but I guess not. I will try again later.

My bird is running great! I have a temp patch for my brakes, we just need to have the time to put in the new brake lines I ordered from DirtyDog. I also have an exhaust system that I am planning toward the end of the season.

Let me know what happens to your bird. Sorry its dead. :(

As long as the weather is nice I am going to try to make it. It'll probably be between 2:00 and 4:00 before I get out there since I work till 6am saturday morning. Anyone going to be out there after 4 pm ? Let me know and I'll try to watch for ya. I'll be in my blue '96 T-Bird.

Too bad I missed you guys. My group was taking a break when Jon was around.

There was also a white bird with a fiberglass hood rolling around, did anyone else see it?

I was at Southgate Lincoln from about 12:30 to 2:00 at the front curbside watching it all go by. Then on to Wendy's for a quick bite and out for a couple of laps. I bugged out at 4:00 PM. I'm in my 97 Mark VIII LSC:

Sorry I missed you Jake, James, and Jon! Michigan Ave Cruise is coming soon, so is the Telegraph Cruise.

That white one is out every year, I talked to him a few years ago, its real clean, cool dude.

I was out all day. Mostly sitting at the Ford dealer. Did a couple laps but each one took a few hours.

Pretty sure I saw everyone drive by at least once lol.

I'm heading over to the Michigan Avenue Cruise, be there about 1:30 or so. It's 12:19 now. Anyone else going to be there? I'll be hanging with the Mustang Club people at Village Ford in Dearborn, if anyone wants to meet up I'm at 734-637-8596 (AT&T cell).

I'll be in the Mark!

Oh heck yeah!!

There were plenty of cars, all sorts! The main area or the place with the most activity and highest concentration of cars and people is the city of Wayne. That's where Michigan Avenue splits into separate lanes of eastbound and westbound. Parking lots in that area were filled with classic cars and all sorts of years and makes, people on lawn chairs, music and parties along where the bar/grills are, etc. Cops didn't really hassle anyone either, drivers behaved for the most part, the occasional burn-out here and there.

Although the city of Wayne was the central point, the cruise went from just east of the Wayne Assembly Ford plant eastward to Outer Drive and then back again. At night folks along the area of Merriman Road east to Outer Drive dispersed but in Wayne they were out later. I left at 10:45 p.m. and people were just starting to thin out.

When I was out there was only one other Mark VIII around and he left after a short while, he had a 1998 LSC. I saw only one other Lincoln, an '87 Mark VII LSC that needed a little bit of help and TLC. I saw 2-3 Thunderbirds, mainly MN-12s but nothing to get excited about as they were pretty much stock. Mustangs galore though of course, as it seems everyone has one. When I wasn't in my Mark I was with my buddy Bob who has a 1990 Porsche 928 S-4 (it has a V-8!).

The Telegraph Road Cruise is next on Saturday, July 23, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and it runs from Taylor to Redford.
