IM under the car and my filter wont go in it has a rubber with threads around it is this supposed to come off. because the one from the old filter is still in there
. what do i do?

Rubber with threads around it? Do you mean the gasket?

That gets removed every oil change, which is why the new filter has one on it.

Otherwise - can you take a picture and post a link to it?

In? The oil filter gasket fits ON the filter adapter. Should peel off.

Can we get a pic of what you're talking about, in case my visualization is faulty?

i cant no camera phone nor camera...


ok i have the filter i just took off. no gasket attached. when i look through the whole it goes in under the trans i can see it sitting there. i trie pulling it out with my fingers , i even put the old filter back on to see if it will attach itself....so my question is how do i get it out?

Durr - this is in the "4R70W Transmission" line, not the "General Tech".

*mutters to self to check headers better*

Now that I'm visualizing better, how about this:

"When you remove the old filter, watch for the seal to stay in the hole in the valve body. Use a 3/8 drive extension to pry it out, as a screwdriver can scratch the bore."

i tried that it just peeled some away and made it harder ..what if theres little pieces left over sticking up there will my filter secure rite?
