you know when you open the door and look at the door jam, the part on the door that looks like two hooks that latch onto the part on the other side of the door jam, that thing is sticking in the lock position so when i close the door it just bounces off instead of hooking onto that little pole and shutting the door.... im sure theres a trick to this, but i dont know it.

has anyone else had this problem and fixed it without replacing the whole mechanism?

You should be able to just manually "click" them back into place with your fingers, then WD-40 them up good. Or are you saying you can't push them back into place?

Yep.... soak em down with pb blaster, then push em back with a screwdriver. If they do not put back, its a pain in the a$$ to replace. I personally took mine to the body shop to get replaced, just because I didn't want to deal with teh hassle of replacing all the rods and everything.

this always used to happen to me. its easy to fix if you start playing with the door handle while pushing up on the top arm thing, you probably know what im talking about. and you may need to replace your door striker or rebuild your lower hinge.

i think it may be that the door is sagging. if i sit inside the car and close the door it shuts fine. but from the outside it wont shut unless i lift up on it with the handle and then shut it, and usually ti stays open just a hair because it wont catch properly lifting the handle up....

When I bought mine the driver's door wouldn't close unless I lifted it, and it was because the plastic sleeve on the striker was gone.
