alright i think i know the answer to this so i thought i'd post in here.

i was driving home and i saw what looked to be a 94 or newer super coupe
i stop to knock on the door to see whats going on with the car and it needs a trans to make it better the whole time i'm talking to the wife of the owner.
she said it needs a trans and she just wants it gone its been sitting for a year i ask for keys she brings them out i throw my battery in and it fires right up no smoke sqeaks rattles perfect fluid levels i say how much she says 200 bucks and its mine.

would the trans out of my 93 v-6 bird drop right in without any issues?

and is there anything i should lookout for?

i always wanted a sc but i have enough vehicles that need work right now.
so i just want to make sure i can rescue this one without going in over my head.

like i said i think the trans i have will fit right in but i just wanted to be sure.

thanks in advace.

also if for some reason theres alot of rot in the floors how hard would it be to drop in the 94 or newer motor and all in my 93 n/a v-6 car.

just wanting to see what my options are.

93 is an AOD, 94 with an auto is an 4R70W, lots of differences, not an easy swap either way.

it'll bolt up, but it wont shift... the 94 is electronically controlled, the 93 uses a throttle valve cable which the 94 wont have... plus i think the driveshaft will be a different length

Nope, because it has nowhere to attach on the other end. This car wasn't designed to have the TV cable.

If it were me....

It runs fine? Interior and bodywork ok?

BUY IT. Go to the woman (not the husband) with 150 cash in hand and close the deal. I'm sure you can scrounge up a working 4R70W at a local yard or even here somewhere. Seeing as you'd have to replace the trans anyway throw, do a shift kit and cooler and you'll have sweet ride. The newer interior, SC...I'm jealous!

What's the prob with the trans? No OD? Simply toast? Did you put it in gear?

Guys/galls am I right that their are no 'stupid questions' just stupid answers?

Anyways, if it were me, I'd SCoop it up!

i really want to but...

i have a 94 mark viii needs a trans

just picked up a 93 3.8 bird beautiful car with a rod knock ended up puttuing a whole in the oil pan no biggie paid $250 definitly worth the money its a clean car.

g/f car no heat 94 4.6 bird .

my space is getting full.

although the s/c is a decent car itself it still needs a few other things besides a trans but the trans is the only mechanical issue.

if i do pick it up i'll take some pictures and throw her on here for another member to rescue.
its definitly worth it.

the trans is completely gone tho i put her and each gear and nothing.

Actually, you can hook up the TV cable to the 94/95 SC Throttle body .. just add the grommet to the linkage if it doesnt already have it.

You can make it work, but it will have issues with the EEC - so that would need to be programmed to remove the transmission, or possibly use a manual EEC.

This would be taking a huge step backwards though .. I would just rebuild the 4r70w already in it, or pick up a newer 4r and rebuild that so it is up so the SC specs.

If it wont go anywhere when put in gear, check the fluid level. The transmission should still have Reverse and 2nd gear unless something is broken internally.

Since the trans is on the way out, I'm sure he parked it and just doesn't want to deal w/ putting a new one in a 14 year old car. Most people could probably care less that it's an SC, or even a T-bird for that matter. They just see it as transportation.

It's not shady at all to offer a low amount of money for it. If he really cared about it he would have fixed it by now. He gets the $150, which is more than a j-yard would probably give him, it's out of his way, and you get an SC for practically nothing. If his wife is anything like mine, she's probably been nagging him to get rid of it for a while now anyways  All you need to do is find a newer 4R and throw it in and call it a day. Heck, you could prob. replace the trans. and turn around and sell it for profit.

$200 for an SC? You would have to be CRAZY not to get that, If it were me I would have jumped on it whenever she told me it was $200. There is a 84 Turbo Tbird around the corner from my house for sale for $500, It needs a little body work but nothing major, But it won't start, It will turn over and sounds fine but it won't start. The guy says he has done EVERYTHING he can think of to get it to start and he says that it just won't. I think that the timing is off and that's why it won't start, But that's just me. I am debating HEAVILY on getting it, But I'm pretty sure that the guy won't go any lower than $500, He says that there is $1,200 worth of parts in it that he just put in before it stopped working, I only seen a new valve cover gasket, Some new wires and a new selinoid. Do you think that the car is worth $500?

any car is only worth so much without hearing it run is kinda like flying blind.

i'm pretty sure its the timing belt.

which is easy on those cars.

change it and put the car on turboford.net.
