Did all the '97 T-Bird/Cougars with the 4.6 liter V-8's use the same EGR back pressure sensor? I went to change mine today, due to an illuminated "Service Engine Soon" light and a trouble code indicating a problem with either the EGR pipe or back pressure sensor, but the one on my car looks different than the new one I got ( the new one is an AC/Delco #24-1356; it's listed on RockAuto as being the correct one). The one on the car only has one vacuum line going up into it and doesn't look like there's a second nipple for another vacuum line to attach to it. The new one has two nipples (labeled REF and HI; the one labeled REF is a slightly smally diamter for a slightly smaller inner diameter vacuum line than the other one is for) for vacuum lines. All the sensors listed on various auto part store websites ALL have the two nipples. Does anyone know if my T-Bird has an oddball EGR back pressure sensor?

By the way, my EGR valve was just replaced last year (with a new Motorcraft part), and the pipe does not seem loose, rusted, or otherwise damaged in any way.

Thanks!

Here is a picture of the EGR back pressure sensor currently on my car:

Here is the new one I bought:

See how they are different? Anyone ever encounter this before?

Look closer, in fact I can see the second hose behind the first one in your pic. The hoses go to the EGR tube and monitor the pressure differential between them.
So, you're saying that the O.E. sensor has the hose nipples mounted front-to-back, instead of side-by-side like the aftermarket units?

I was wondering that, after looking a little closer at the picture of the O.E. unit I posted on here; I thought I also might've seen another hose behind the first!

They are the same sensor .. Ford changed it to Plastic later on and moved the hoses - the aftermarket sensor are the same as an OEM one.
