This has been bothering me for awhile and a buddy of mine referred to this, as it might be the culprit for my problem. Since I had the head gaskets done the other year, I have noticed an exhaust leak sound. I have had my exhaust redone which did not resolve that issue, so it still remains. Is it possible that the egr got damage or is cracked causing the sound I hear? I tried looking for a bad seal for the manifolds but did not see any. Any ideas? Wasn't sure if this should be placed in the exhaust thread or not. Thanks.

Honestly, I feel stupid for admitting this, but I really don't know where the egr tube is located. It's on the passenger side, correct?

It runs from the right rear side of the EGR valve down into the passenger side exhuast manifold. Mine had a hairline crack when I redid the headgaskets and made the worst possible sound ever until I found it.

Did you repair it or just replace it? How hard was it to do?

It was so brittle that I just removed it. Right now I have the EGR and the manifold plugged. Surprisingly it passed inspection. Only downside is that it brings a CEL on.

The dealer wants about 65.00 for a new one. When I get some extra cash I plan on buying one.

There are two fittings--one on either end. Picture a thick piece of brake line. The fitting at the manifold is hard to get off but some soaking in PB should do it just fine. Its not that hard at all to remove, the fitting down at the manifold is in an ackward position though.

Do you think there is a diagram somewhere that I can look at to get a better idea?

Don't worry about it. It's a little chilly to be doing that. I guess I'll wait until Spring to tackle the project. Thanks.
