Went to Autozone for an engine light diag. First code read Emission control system and I was told it was dealer only. Second was a misfire on the number 6 cylinder.

Do I have to go to the dealer or is there any other way to find what part is bad.
(Im thinking EGR Valve maybe)

The number 6 cylinder is no big deal, Im just going to change the wires and plugs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fix the missfire on cylinder 6, go back to Autozone if you still have a CEL, and get the actual code, P0455 (for example) or whatever it is and post that here. What you gave is too generic to be able to say what could cause it, and while the part might be dealer only, that doesn't mean it is expensive or hard to obtain or something you can't do.

I will get the missfire fixed, He said that the code could only be read by a dealer or company with a more extensive computer.

An emissions/powertrain/chassis code that they can't read? That is odd. I would guess they can, I would just try again, and watch for the numerical display of the code and remember it. They told me somethign similar with my 2000 Grand Marquis before I got a way to read them myself, but I just snuck a peek (they tried to keep it hidden, super secret or something). Just because they can't make anything out of the number, doesn't mean it can't be done.

So they did atleast use an OBD-II reader, generally when you tell them you have a 94 or 95, they will say they can't read them (since other than exceptions to the rule, like our 4.6 powered cars) they are OBD-I.

Ok went back to autozone and the code read P1407 I was told it was a loose gas cap or Vaccum leak.

It this good info before I start working on the motor?

P1407 = EGR No Flow Detected.

There's several threads about this. Try a search on P1407. Common culprits are a faulty DPFE sensor, broken EGR vacuum line(s), or a bad EVR solenoid.
