I want to change my front engine mounts on my 95 4.6L by attaching engine lift brackets and supporting with an engine support bar, but I can't find the recommended engine lift brackets. It's just a bent piece of metal with holes in it and nobody sells them. Alternative I'm considering is OTC7100 but only has single attaching bolt hole, whereas the Ford manual recommended bracket attaches to the head with two bolts. What has everyone else used to support the engine while lowering the front sub-frame to access the front engine mounts?

Thanks,
Jim

I just used a thick piece of steel with two holes drilled one for the bolt and one for the chain or hook for the support bar. Attached two of these to the alternator bolts and it worked fine for me... that's with the engine supported for a week while the sub frame was removed for headers and oil pan replacement... worked out really well

I would just remove the alternator and loop a chain over the support bar with each end of the chain bolted down tight to the alternator mount bolts.

Thanks for the ideas on supporting the engine from the front at the alternator mounts. I'll order up the support bar and get started on that.
