Lemme start off with the basics; I have 170k on my 4.6l bird, uses 1 quart of oil between oil changes, lose a little bit of coolant between oil changes. Today when checking the oil it looked clumpy like it was cooked. Now last night the car overheated, and it's due for an oil change. I have noticed no problems in drivability. Is it possible that the over heating 'cooked' the oil dirty oil?

Modern oil will grab water and eventually 'clump up'; what kind of oil is this, and how many miles?

Mine will drop a quart between oil changes; It seems to leak more when it's old oil...adding a quart doesn't slow the leak rate, but an oil change does.

I use 5W30 Syntec, so it's not thin oil leaking easier, I don't think, so I just replace it every 2500-3000 mi. (about every six weeks... :) )

It's the castrol synthetic blend I use, 5w30. I noticed though only a few yellow clumps. I'm change the oil tomorrow. Thanks. Also the oil has been in the engine for 6 months now.
