Have you *checked* the oil level?

There is a dip stick in the engine, pull it out (with your car on level ground turned off, but engine warm) and wipe it off. Stick it back in and then pull it out again.

It will tell you the level of the oil. It -might- help to get the oil changed as well.

Most likely the ticking is from your valvetrain, rockers, lifters, pushrods etc.. Which yes..does tick when low on oil or when you use a lighter oil.
