I ran into a problem yesterday when accelerating on to the freeway. The engine simply cut out just as if the key were turned off. I backed off & because the clutch was still engaged the engine fired up but cut out again as soon as I stepped on the gas. I went through this cycle for about 100 yards until I pulled off the freeway. As I sat there I tried starting it up & it started fine & idled OK. If I eased the gas up slowly it would rev up to about 2500-3000 & then it would shut off (almost like it was starved for fuel). I can actually drive it as long as I don't push the gas down too far, Obviously the fuel pump is working & it ran fine up until the event. The tow truck driver thouhgt it could be a clogged fuel filter which made some sense to me. I put a new one in today but still have the same problem. I didn't see any broken or disconnected vacuum lines. I'm at a loss so any help would be welcomed. Keep in mind that I have a Mark VIII engine in my car

Thanks

Jim
