I am going to be replacing my oil pan on my 95 Mark VIII this weekend. I have the support for the enging. Where is the best place to attatch to the engine? I know some people use the alternator bracket, but I am just looking for suggestions.
Thanks.

I remove the alternator and use the two lower alternator mounting bolts that thread into the front of the block. It works out very well.

i think that's what i will do. i'll probably take some pictures (if i remember). I got a support from work that has a comealong on it as well as some j hooks. i am not sure which i will use you. i wonder if the j hooks will give me better control.
should be about 45 degrees this weekend....just right

Hey, don't pick on my support. :) I was not happy and in a hurry when I slapped that thing together.

I was serious! Not picking on it.....I kept thinking of making one, because I couldn't find anyone to rent me one...I finally asked at work and they said it was ok to take it home because they have 2.

What size are the bolts? I should get some so I don't wreck the alternator bolts. Or see if I have any.
This is gonna be fun....:D:confused:
Thanks again for your help.

I used the alternator bolts. Worked perfectly. There was a guy who said he changed an oil pan by just loosening the subframe bolts all the way...he must be related to Houdini....I couldn't get it to work lol. I ended up lowering the frame.

Some not so good pics.......the comealong on the right side of the pic would have been nice, but it wasn't working. This took me most of the day. I would think with a lift and air tools, and doing it for the second time I could cut that time in half.
