Just a question out of curiosity. I remember reading that the newer Explorer 4.6 is aluminum. What does this engine weigh when compared to the 97 T-Bird 3.8?

If the 4.6 is all aluminum, and the V6 is an iron block, then you can bet the house that the Al-engine weighs less than the Fe! :^)

Kinda what I figured. So that make the front of the vehicle ride higher if you just swapped engines, without any suspension mods, correct?

I'd say they weigh the about same.

There are really too many varibles to go by just displacement or materials. My SHO's engine is just 3L, and is an iron block, but they weigh in around 450lbs for just the longblock. the intake weighs around 35lbs, and once you add all the accessories, your close to 550lbs!

Well, I know that the 93-98 Mark 8 engine weighs just over 500 lbs fully dressed. I haven't weighed a 3.8L engine as of yet.
