hey guys im new to the forum. i have a 93 tbird 3.8L non sc (about 80k miles on it)with cold air induction with a k&n cone filter where the airbox used to be. Im thinking of putting dual exhaust on it. i was considering having 2.25" pipes come off from the stock cats and have them go into an aftermarket dual in dual out muffler, then have 2.25" or 2.5" pipes run out the back with chrome tips for looks. how would that sound when finished? i dont want any rice sound at all, i want it to have a deep throaty sound (i kinda want it to sound close to a camaro z28 or stang gt), but i dont want it to be obnoxiously loud. should i go with flowmaster or dynomax? should the pipes coming out the back of the muffler be 2.25" or 2.5"? i dont want this to be an expensive mod (college student here). any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks.

In my opinion your exhaust would definetly sound better with flowmasters. They aren't too loud and they don't at all sound like those ricer hondas. As for choosing 2.25 or 2.5, that's really up to how you want it to look, because once it's past the mufflers it does not have a big effect on horse power. I built something similar on my '91 Cougar, but I used a dual in/dual out Magnaflow. It has a built in X so it should help with scavenging. Car has a deep throaty sound, kind of unique....

Here is my custom flowmaster exhaust
My V6 flowmaster Exhaust

Mine is 2.25" into a Dual 2.25" in Single 3" out flowmaster 50 series I split the single 3" out into dual 2.5" after the rear diff and out the back. NO CATS.

My Exhaust is Still too big for the Power my engine is making (about 210hp/245tq at the flywheel) but will be perfect when I get the vortech supercharger installed

I would look into a 2" into a single 2.5" setup for your car.

That is true, the 4.6s sound better with the flos than the 3.8s. But flos are still good.

Well.. For a total of just over $330 bucks, I had the downtubes Y'ed in to a 2.25" pipe that went through the jog of the gas tank and just before the rear differential it was Y'ed out around both sides and to the two Flowmaster 40 Series ($59.99 ea. at Ramchargers, 79,99 at Poop Boys). Coming out of the mufflers, the pipes turn down (to accomdate the 94/95 SC rear end) and I have 2.5"x9" slant cut chrome tips.

Excuse the ugliness, the car is undergoing (and has been for a long time) a huge change. I'm getting my moonroof put in Monday (getting everything done before paint)!
