Ok guys, check this out. I stopped by a muffler shop last week to get an estimate. We started talking about true duals, and I told him that I wanted an x-pipe. He suggested that I delete the 3rd cat and replace it with a single dual in dual out muffler. Has anyone ever seen/heard this set up? Any comments?

This would do what you're looking for, for less money but it isn't the BEST setup. A dual in/out muffler does equalize pressure like an x-pipe, and it even muffles the noise! The downside is that mufflers do their jobs best downstream, in theory it is best to put a muffler as near to the exhaust exit(tip) as possible.
