I just installed a remote oil filter mount and installed a oil pressure gauge. I have searched the threads but have not found any expected readings on the pressure gauge. My guage is mechanical and is reading 75 psi at idle. What should it be? That was higher than I expected to see.

Yep, the startup pressure is pretty high on my DOHC, too. IIRC, it's around 90 psi or so.

Once the engine reaches operating temp, I usually see about 30 psi at idle in gear (550 rpm).

My numbers may be a little higher than most, since the engine only has 750 miles on it.

Also, keep in mind that oil viscosity also plays a role in oil pressure. I'm currently running 5W30 dino oil.

Yeah, about 80 PSI on cold startup, warm idle in gear about 30 PSI, cruise about 50-60 PSI.
10W-30 non-synthetic, I estimate just over 200K on the clock now.

Thanks to all for replies. I forgot about the oil being cold resulting in lower pressure. Cold startup is 75+. It went up a little bit after I tightened the plug in the outlet without. I knew I should have tightened when I first put it in. After warm up idling in gear is 25-30.
