I am curious about the trunk popper on my 96, when I push the button on the remote, or in the center console, the solenoid makes noise but sounds...not right, quiet, or something. Trunk will not open.

I can only open the trunk with the key, and the lock is hard to turn. I sprayed some lube on the key and stuck it in a few times, sprayed lock lube inside the trunk lock, it feels like it may have helped, but only a little. Any ideas on fixing this?

my mom had that issue. if you push the trunk down and do it then hold the button in the console down it opens just fine.
If that's the case, the rubber adjustable feed on the trunk lid may be extended too far thus putting too much pressure on the latch to smoothly release.

The OEM lubricant/grease is well known to get old and immobile; If you wash it out, you have to relubricate it well with grease, or it will rust.

I've had this problem with the doors, the seats, and the trunk mech...

Note: If you wash it out with WD40, it will rust solid in about a year. :)
