My dad own's a '94 Cougar XR7(TCCOA member: Vince)....maybe a year ago he bought a SVT badge from a local swap meet....I joke on it alot....anyways, is it considered a styling no-no to Have fake badging??

yes. In my mind putting an SVT badge on a cougar is as bad as putting a "GT-R" on a Maxima, or a Type-R badge on a Civic.

At least he used a badge from the same maker. :rolleyes:

Yes I was. The longhaired hippy looking freak that won the pumpkin. :)

In my opinion a badge or two is no big deal, some make a stink about it. It's the ones that put the badge on and go around saying they have that car that I don't care for.

Some will point and laugh, some will think it's cool, some don't care either way.

I agree, buying a $5 badge compared to spending the money on the real thing is ghetto. If you can't afford to buy the real thing don't fake it. A fake badge is a badge of lack of self-esteem. A badge that makes your car look slower than what it really is, is tricky and cruel, but better than being a poser.

Well...

On a stock lx or sc I think it's a no no. But if you were to supercharge a v8 as many have done through the AED kit then at least you're more qualified to wear the badge. The original (4) SVTbirds were SC v8s. Add the SVT rims and it gets better. However personally I would never put one on even a car such as this since it is just plain lieing. SVT never mass produced the birds, so therefore you can never truly have an SVT bird. If you're looking for a badge to go with your modded bird, why not get a "supercharged" emblem or even a cubic inch badge like 302 or what have you?

its a cougar.....

......not a Bird....and A supercharger is in the works when the money comes around....remember....its my father's car, not mine (i wish):D

I have an SVT badge on the bottom of my tail light on my mod' ed 95 Nothing really is left untouched on the car and very little is still factory. I love this badge cause all we have around here are kids with imports that call my Nitrous Express "NOS" and to my knowledge its not made by Holley! They always are like "wow I never seen one of those before'' and I always look them strait in the eye and say its a very rare car I own, and and even came from Ford with a Mark VIII interior and "NOS" I have never clamed to another Ford or domestic owner its a SVT so I am not really doing it to lie just to mess with 16 year olds that have already made up there mind that fixing up a car that you can get anodized parts for at Meijer is the way to go. I love my Bird cuase everyone I have met so far with a mn12 is been so nice and not the typical "my car is better than yours" and you see so few mn12s nicely done. Not trying to start anything with anyone just my reasoning behing it.

Imagine this......I see an SVT badge on your bird and I decide to "see what you got" and I am now 3 - 4 car lenghts in front because you dont even have a supercharger.....for example. Now don't you look dumb.

I always say if you talk the talk.....you have to walk the walk.:D

So when you get that supercharger, beef up the suspension, work on the intake and have respectable HP ,TQ numbers and 1/4 mile times..........by all means get that SVT badge.

Until then, if your car says SVT and you get you a$$ handed to you.......you look dumb. Whatever it is....Bird or Cougar :rolleyes:

Very impressive, and nice attention to detail! Mine is sitting up on jack stands with the complete drive train out. I am doing a complete reinforcement of the rear subframe and bushings. Then it all goes back in from the rear forward. I hope to get something on the steering shaft before I try to cram in some long tubes. Seems several are working on the same problem, and maybe we will get a solid solution for these stinking headers.

I think that SVT badge is geared more toard performance. So even though there was no SVT Bird/Cougie if you have done upgrades to the car and its no longer stock its a way to tell people.

Yeah that's my opinion as well... it just means your vehicle is special... different from stock, and better from stock. I've got SVT badges on my quarter panels and one in place of the LX on the trunk lid... No one has ever really said anything about it, and anyone i show seems to like em' but that's just me....

what if i put a cobra engine in my bird. Can i put cobras on the sides where the v8 badges would be. those badges are there to tell what kind of motor you have. technically ill have a cobra engine. so its all good
