I had my intake tube off today because I was cleaning up the engine compartment a bit at school today. Had to get rid of that nasty salt!

So anyways I opened the throttle pate to see a bunch of nasty buildup in there.

How exactly would I clean it out? I know your not supposed to put anything in there because of the "coating". Or is that just before the plate? If I took the plenum off the manifold, could I reuse the gasket(s)? I was thinking about taking it all apart and cleaning it up real good. It was definatly pretty nasty looking in there. That may be the cause of my rough idling I am getting lately.

Thanks for any info!

I say screw the 'coating' crap and clean thet motha effah out! All that black buildup is from the pcv circulating oily fumes into the intake tube. When I bought my 60mm TB for my 93 it was polished and had no coating and the car runs GREAT now.

Tony --- There's a special TB Cleaner (aerosol spray) available from the Ford dealer (and possibly other places) that won't damage the special coating. It's not just regular TB Cleaner though. Let us know how much a can is. ;)
