finally got to drive the car today for a distance =, to date all info has been second hand from the boychild. Here goes with the o/d disengaged "O/D" light on in the dash the car shift normally through 3 gears with no slipping nothing else funny.

From a standing start with the overdrive available "O/D" light is off. car will shift normally with a slight rise in rpm going into 4th gear. Here's where the fun begins around 50 or so if i step on the engine revs right to red line. if i back off the gas sometimes the trans will catch, sometimes it won't, if i manually down shift while this is going on nothing happens the engine will still rev ( i can't force the car into third). if the car coasts down under about 43 mph i can finally get it back into third then disengae the O/D and drive normal

No CEL
No funny smells
No unusally high temp from car (although ambient temp has been in the 90's all week)
Fluid is still red and shinny with no odor.
No slipping in reversve or low gear car will spin tires effortlessly.
Also can't seem to pull any codes at all.

I don't think thats an MLPS problem, but start there. Its about $30 to find out and a lot cheaper than the alternatives. Regardless, a new MLPS is something you want if you need to do a more involved trans repair or complete replacement anyway.
