well i finally got around to going to the track, and here are my results...
this run i launched at about 1400 rpms which seemed to be about the best take-off this big thing could muster...

r/t .167
60ft 2.236
1/8 9.833
mph. 72.96
1/4 15.177
mph. 91.74

i had a lot of fun, and with a couple little tweaks i think i could break into the 14's .
here's a link to my best run of the day that i got on tape, if anyone wants to see it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0HusozC77k

the things i felt that i need to improve before i go back were, the cheap wal-mart tires gotta go, i'm gonna adjust my shift pressure down a little so i don't chirp the tires so much going into 2nd, and i'm probably gonna move my battery to the trunk just to help shift a little more weight to the rear...

Get some wider tires, and you should be in the high 14's.

i was really hoping to get into the 14's, but im almost there... some punk with a honda was talking a lot of crap every time i ran, his best time was like 14.5 ish. i hope hes down there next time i go!!! I think after i shave a little weight off the car (weighs 3840 lbs with me in it and 1/4 tank of gas) and get some better tires i'll do a lot better...hopefully:rolleyes:

Blake,

Do you think you had a lot of wheel spin?

I would hope to you (or I) could get into the lower 14's atleast.

my best run i didn't have hardly any wheel spin, but i could only launch at about 1350-1400 rpm max or i had bad wheel hop or spun. i could probably get a bit lower on better tires alone... i have stock size and width Viva 2's on it now... they suck for traction though.they are rated to last 60,000 miles, but the way im going they may last about 10,000:rolleyes:

Yeah that is one of the reasons I have not went to the track, cause I know even though my tires are really wide they are hard and it takes a lot to get the warm. I spin very easily on the streets now. And I run only 25 psi in the rears.

tires, gear and weight removal will get you low 14's.

i highly doubt i'll ever go bigger than 3.73's on the gears.im working on the weight this weekend, got a couple little things to do also(fix exhaust leak, install u/d pulleys, change my speedo gear, and relocate the battery to the trunk).
i will probably get an extra pair of stock rims and some drag radials for the track and some skinnies for the front...by the way quick question :what is the best kind and gauge of wire for relocating the battery?

When I am able to get a set of slicks then I will go to the track to run high 13's.

you sound fairly certain... i thought i would be in the 14's before i went, then when i got my first time slip and it said 15.45 i was like wtf  i thought it was faster than that...plus my reaction time was over .700:eek: good thing they were running one lane at a time...and not to mention the second time i staged up, i did so on my back tires... the track attendant probably thought i was retarded

yeah there wasn't really room to get around it...i burned out like hell trying to dry them off/heat them up. i know burnouts on street tires don't really help...i had to get the water off them some how...and it was a lot of fun!!! probably wasted half the tread on the tires :D ...seriously i ran about 20-25 times and did a burnout every time:eek:

Blake you need a higher stall converter, the stock ones are junk. It made a huge difference in my car when I got mine.

Wow that is alot of runs!! Sounded like alot of fun!

Yeah I have done some testing on a closed road by my house and I have marked the road for the 1/8th and the 1/4 and I clock my test runs.

yeah there were literally less than 20 cars running. it was great there was no line, and there were some interesting cars there...there was a nova with a huge motor and twin turbos the size of spare tire rims but he couldn't get it running right:rolleyes: i wont have the money for a stall converter till tax season :( ...unless i get a LOT of overtime.
i will be shooting for low 14's this year, and 13's next year

It will be real tough for you to get into the 14's without a stall.

I ran a 14.992 and have almost identical mods to your car, but you have better exhaust, CAI, MAF, tb, etc. in all of those areas your car is superior to mine, plus when I ran mine I was not yet J-modded, just tuned, and I had no idea what I was doing, so, with that in mind your car is more than capable of running mid 14's, tires would probably help you out on this.

Dang I have very similar mods as you (minus the 373 gear) and I'm kinda afraid to go to the track.. I was really hoping I would be able to hit low 15s and with a gear coming soon high 14s.. If your numbers are about right that means I am in the mid to high 15s CRAP. My buddy Ethan's 97 mustang 5spd is running 15 flat with just exhaust and fat tires.

No. If you are a decent driver, you should be running faster times than what I am running. I ran the 15.421 with no j-mod, skinnier tires, wheel spin, and stock drive shaft. The transition from 225 to 235mm wide tires made a noticeable difference in WOT traction also.
