I picked up my spare center section today after having 3.73s and a trac lok put in. I gave the guy at the shop 2 Quarts of Mobil1 and a bottle of Friction Modifier. He told me I might want to check to make sure that it might carry 3 quarts. He said he is pretty sure it holds 3 quarts...So begs the question, does it hold 2 quarts or 3?

You need 3.25 pints or 1.5 Litres, plus friction modifier for an 8.8 unit with traction lok. This is according to my 96 helms manual!

The IRS pumpkin holds a bit less than 2 quarts. It's the solid axle 8.8 diffs that need around 3 quarts of fluid.

2 pints is a quart. It holes 3.25 pints which is 1.75 quarts.

Mount the diff up in the car and fill it until it starts to dribble out of the drain plug
