He talked about doing the TIG welded bung as a sensor mount location so that the sensor could read the coolant directly instead of taking the temp from the heat soaked radiator.

Sure, post some pix up. Thanks for sharing your experience doing a custom after-market radiator install.

My ultimate goal is going centrifugal and I'm having a hard time finding MN12 setups that show definite clearance between the intake tube and radiator shroud. I found a pic of CobraRThunder's 97 and he cut his shroud and was looking at a pic of RobertP's and couldn't tell if it was cut. Bottom line is if clearance isn't an issue I would be interested in stockpiling another piece to my TBird puzzle.
I had to cut mine also , I can take some pictures for you if need. So you can see how much clearance there is.

Q: For Fluidyne's SPAL fan mounting hardware -- is it just the clips or will they also give you a fancy shroud as well?
-g
The answer I received is:

There's not a full shroud like OEM, there is a full gasket on the fan that seals the fan against the Radiator - same setup as NASCAR. The fan covers almost the whole radiator.

The fan configuration will be similar to the Xfinity, Camping World Truck Series - NASCAR Spec Cooling Module. If you hover over the images on this page you can see the gasket around the fan edges where it sits on the radiator.

https://www.fluidyne.com/product-page/nascar-spec-cooling-module

So, for those of you who were concerned about clearance issues with the factory shroud, this fan configuration without a shroud will greatly reduce the amount of room that the fan behind the radiator will occupy.

Q: Would Fluidyne make one off radiators with these specs later on if we wanted to?

Of course, I understand that it'd be the higher price as a one-off unit vs a group buy price.

I'm sure they would / could. Once they have the blueprint in their system it would be easy to pull it up and make another. All they'd need to do is source the materials necessary to build another one.

Bump.

EECDOC are you still interested?

To all: I talked to RobertP tonight and he indicated that the stock fan is good enough. He said that it's an 18" fan and will be more than adequate to move air across this new radiator.

Ron, as I stated, I'm not currently having an overheating issue. Yes I might be interested in one of the radiators. I thought Fluidyne would have one for you to review, prior to doing a group purchase. I will wait and see the finished product, fit, finish and dimensions.

I placed the order today for 4 radiators (My own + 3 more). FLUIDYNE's phones were down yesterday for some reason ??? so I couldn't get the order in yesterday.

Anyway, They indicated that they would get started on these next week. They will have Monday off due to Labor Day and they normally take Friday off leaving a 3 day work week. However, Ryan did indicate that they *should* be done by Thursday, 9/6/18.

I'll update those of you who have orders as soon as I hear anything.

Thanks for all your interest. If you would still like to order one you can call them directly and get your's added to the other order. You can pay them directly. You can reach them at 704-662-8119.

Even though I was not part of this group buy, I just wanted to say "Thank you" for the work that you put into this.

These cars are very special to all of us. Any aftermarket attention that we can get is good for all of us who seek to keep these cars on the roads and at the race tracks.

Overkill for my application, sure, but I'm for getting a one-of-a-kind (or in this case, a one-of-four-kind) part for our cars. Very hard to come by these days. Thanks Ron!

You're welcome. I'm just thankful that they would take on custom builds! Thank you FLUIDYNE!

They should be very high quality, very efficient units. I'm looking forward to seeing them when they're done - AND dropping my cooling temps by a good 20 degrees or so! Right now it's hovering around 200 degrees or more in this summer heat, depending on how hard I'm driving. If I run the AC I'm looking at up to 230 degrees. What good is AC if you can't run it for fear of cooking the motor?

FYI (and FWIW), IIRC in the factory program, A/C shuts off automatically if the ECT reaches 235. I'd have to look it up to be sure...

Update

Talked to FLUIDYNE this morning. They didn't get to our radiators last week - due to it being a short work week because of the holiday, they used the time to catch up on other things. They said they'd get started on our radiators for sure this week.

Our radiators were finished today. They still need to be bench tested and packaged for shipping. They should ship out tomorrow.

We can work out the shipping charges once I know what the total is. Cheers Guys! :zbeer:

Radiators went out yesterday. They'll be delivered between Friday and Monday depending on how far they have to go.

Mine will be delivered today but I'm not home to see it. :(

I've sent tracking numbers and shipping fee information to you guys via PM. Please send payments to cover shipping to my PayPal account.

Enjoy! Thanks for your interest and support in getting these custom radiators!

Mine showed up this morning. Looks pretty nice, great craftsmanship for sure. Wasn't expecting it to have a trans heat exchanger in it, but otherwise it seems to be twice as thick as the stocker. Looking forward to when I get it installed!

Pix Please! It is almost twice as thick as the stocker 1-3/4" vs 1" for the stocker.

The stock radiator has a trans heat exchanger built into it.
