What car did they place the last 4.6 engine in?
You guys may be right about the 302 vs. 4.6L production volumes.I was going by the 93 Mustang being the last one. That was the same 5.0 in 2001?
Yes, either 67 or 68 changed from the 289 to the 302. Oh well, still a lot of 4.6's!
I think its guaranteed that "more 4.6s are left than 5.0s today." A ton more 5.0s, esp the malaise era ones, have gone to the scrapper so I'm not sure you'd find anyone willing to take that bet.Plus Ford cars/trucks had a MUCH broader pallet of V8 engines to choose from between 62-95 and a lot of the pre 1980 stuff only really offered the 302 as aV8 entry option between a 6 and middle of the road V8s like the FE or later 351(and often the 351C/M at that). Conversely Modulars were pretty much THE V8 option in the vehicles they were used in.
I think the only way you'll get figures is if you break down all the cars they came in and which got them as an option. I'd be willing to bet either way there's more 4.6s left than 5.0s today
