Anyone here have experience with Ford dealer installed security systems? I have a Ford alarm, remote keyless entry, remote start and I can't find any directions for it online.

This is on my 96 Bronco not my Thunderbird but they are both around the same age vehicle and this was a dealer option not factory so it's the same as what some here may have on their Thunderbirds.

I bought a second remote for it on ebay and received the programming directions below. The programming worked, sort of. I was successful in programming the new remote and reprogramming my old remote. The problem is that now when I press the lock or unlock button on either remote it works but the lock actuator continues to cycle 12 times. It didn't do this before with the old remote.

The seller sent me some additional steps in the instructions (second set of directions below) that are supposed to be used when programming fewer than the max of 4 remotes (2 in my case) but this didn't solve the problem.

Anyone have any information about this? A copy of the directions for this system would be great.

Instructions for programming your new Code Alarm Remote(s)
1. Open the driver’s door, leave the door open and make sure the dome light

is ON.

2. Turn vehicles ignition on (Ignition ON engine OFF).

3. Press and hold emergency override button (A small black headed push

button commonly found under the driver side dash) After about 10-13

seconds, the siren or horn will sound three (3) times. This indicates that

the unit has entered the transmitter-programming mode.

4. Continue to hold in the programming override button.

5. Press the ARM (or LOCK) button on the remote transmitter to be

programmed. The siren or horn will sound once, indicating that the

system has “learned” that remote transmitters code.

6. Repeat step 5 for any additional transmitters or transmitter codes.

7. Release the programming override button.

8. Turn the ignition off to exit the programming mode. Test remote

transmitters to ensure that they work properly by toggling back & forth

the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons

Instructions for programming your new Code Alarm Remote(s)

Note: Each System module has four “slots”, or memory locations, to store

transmitter codes, giving it the ability to operate from up to four transmitters.

For proper operation, a transmitter code must be stored into each memory slot.

When using less than four transmitters, follow the suggested programming

parameters:

One Remote Transmitter – Program four (4) times

·

Two Remote Transmitters – Program each transmitter two (2)

times.

·

Three Remote Transmitters – Program two transmitters one (1)

time, and the remaining transmitter twice.

I'm sure someone has one of these alarms on their car.

That's one of those "ford accesories" that dealers like to upsell people at the time of purchase...it is probably made by audiovox. Probably not going to be easy to find much on it from audiovox, because it's an OEM type deal, so, although it might be a rebadged version of something they offered att he time, but even still, that might not get you far. Dealers probably won't know anything about it, since it's so old, and because of the nature of what it is.

Why not trace the wires back and remove it, put the truck back to stock in that regard. Truck might have the factory keyless entry, but no alarm module.

At that point, if you still want an alarm, you could get a modern aftermarket alarm, which would address these issues. Wish I could help with what you are actually trying to figure out, it is interesting.

Yeah it's a Ford dealer item, not factory. I was told it was made by codealarm which is now owned by audiovox.

I'm not going to remove it. The alarm, remote keyless entry and remote start features all work fine. It's just that the lock keeps cycling which in addition to being annoying will probably wear out the lock actuator.


It was suggested to me that there is a programming option for the door lock duration. I may have accidentally changed this when I programmed the remote.

Apparently one of the options changes the lock/unlock output; from either 5 seconds or 0.6 sec. It sounds as if maybe mine is set to the 5 sec option and therefore cycling the lock repeatedly.

Unfortunately I still don't know how to change this option.

I finally found someone who had a copy of the manual and the full programming instructions. With the directions I was able to change this door lock duration option from 5 sec to .6. It now works fine again.

Probably Ford System 6 alarm

I have a dealer-installed System 6 Ford Alarm - '96 T-Bird

Started acting up (can't use interior lights or mirrors after car starts - don't work when door opened but will when alarm 'disarm' button used) - need to determine if the unit itself is malfunctioning. My Ford tech said to disconnect unit - turn ignition switch to "On" and see if the lights then work - if so - problem with unit - otherwise, a short somewhere.

Anyway, the Ford Part number is F7AZ-19A361-AA or F81Z-19A361-AA (both are listed on the instruction manual)

Found three places who still have them: NOS Parts Warehouse, Green Sales Company, and Bob Allen Ford (as of 7/27/14)
