Which is crap when GMs been haphazardly doing it since 2004. Ford actually has some semblance of organization and capability of doing a true production run on these cars for our market, but nooooo, they just keep peddling the same abortion (D3) as the "full size" flagship. "God forbid we release a car developed by us for a change". There was lots of rumor in recent years that the Falcon would be rebadged on our Taurus for the Australian market too, wouldn't that just be typical.

Falcon GT RSpec $76,990 AUD = $79K USD
Falcon XR6 Turbo $36K AUD = $39K USD

Even if they brought it over, it's highly doubtful that such a car would attract that many buyers.

Bring it over now? No I'm not expecting that to happen today, Ford NA missed the boat on it several years ago. Ford in 2005 should have chosen to set up the domestic factories to produce the the Falcon here instead of bothering with the D3 cars and ***** boxes(CUVs). It was a true Ford design, has excellent bones and is no less adaptable. With them being produced here those prices wouldn't be so outrageous.

I say 2005 because it should have been the Crown Vic's replacement, which unfortunately ended up being the Five-Hundred. The uninspiring lump of dull foisted upon the American public and based on a Volvo designed platform (a platform acquired from Nasser's epically failed PAG program). The Taurus and SHO improved on it, sure but it was a 10 year old underperforming platform by then.

The only hope for the future is that Ford NA and Ford AUS pool their resources to build a global RWD chassis to replace both the D3 and the current Falcon. But that's probably wishful thinking. Ford NA's input would probably ruin it if they did

Annual New auto sales in AU (for all makes): ~ 1.148M
Annual New auto sales in AU (for all makes): ~ 14+ M

AU is a small car market esp in comparison to the US (not even including Canada/Mexico). Ford NA would totally steamroll AU.

On the bright side, should they decide to go this route, whatever globally compromised turd gets pooped out would likely be far, far cheaper than the price required to sustain the current gen Falcon.

$39K is right on par with the new Taurus SHO. The XR6 has almost exactly the same power as the ecoboost, is also a full-size performance sedan, is available with a manual transmission, is 600lbs lighter, and is based on a RWD platform instead of a FWD adapted to AWD. Not that I'm in the market to spend $40K on any car, but given the choice between the XR6T Falcon and the new SHO taurus, I'd take the XR6 all day every day, and I think that most people looking for a performance sedan would prefer the XR6T to the SHO. Also, when considering that MSRP on a similarly equipped new Mustang GT is $35K, and when comparing the XR6T to similar sized sedans with similar power such as a BMW 535 ($54K), the new Impala (36K) or even the Hyundai Genesis ($35K), a $39K sticker really wouldn't be too far out of line.
