A True Disaster Story.
March 2005 . . .
Problem: Squeaking noise coming from Idler Bearing on motor.
Fix: Replaced Bearing
Result: Eliminated most of the squeak. could not find source of other noise (too Faint)
Two weeks later . . .
Problem: Belt Tensioner Bearing Seises up and Cocks itself into the timing cover, grinding hole into and cracking timing cover. Throwing shards of alluminum into oil and timing chains. Super heats pulley and Melts Belt off within seconds. While moving at 45mph. I lose power stearing Because Belt shreds, and almost Wreck the car. Manage to get it 1 more mile to parents place and park car.
Fix: Replace Belt Tensioner and belt, Did not know extent of hole in timing cover.
Result: Hole in timing cover caused major damage, do to rapid loss of oil and incoming debris.
Car sits . . . . (Depressing) till Spetember 2006.
September 2006 . . .
Problem: Hole in timing cover, bad oil pump.
Fix: Replace timing cover, remove timing chains and pull oil pump (Which is extremely difficult with oil pan attached while in car) but a successful install. Return Timing chains and cover to motor.
Result: Upon staring the car, I found out first hand why they call this an interfearance motor, timing was off and bam . . .dead.
Car Sits . . . .
January 2007 . . .
Problem: dead motor . . . here is where I am attempting the PI head Swap.
I am not at an impass. . . what is the story with the PI Heads, I hear so much and am looking to do it. . . .what is the best donor motor to get the heads from for a 95 4.6? Is it the 99 Mustang or the Explorer?
I know there have been post about this in the past but the responses have been confusing, is there any advise to have on this build? that has not been mentioned?
I also need the Tool to set timing once the heads are on. Anyone have them laying around? and want to sell them? [email protected]
