I am now clueless as to why my 95 4.6 with 20K since rebuild gets 210 or so per tank

Stuff replaced recently:

Fuel Filter
Plugs
Oil
Trans Fluid
Filter Cleaned
PCV

Mods are in signature

I do tend to drive with an extremely heavy foot (90+mph) on a daily basis on the hwy.

Any MECHANICAL ideas, not adjusting my driving.

Thanks in Advance

Start with that, if that doesnt work then go to the next step. You know that putting Nitrous will lower your fuel efficiency, right?? not to mention f*cking up your engine.

maybe it's not the top speed you reach, but how fast you get there... try taking a little longer on your run up... meaning don't floor it, use half throttle... don't use half throttle, use quarter throttle... you get the idea... use less pedal to get where you want to... also, anticipate slow downs... you know your coming up to a stop sign soon, so let off the gas earlier.

That's what I started doing

Also, clean your MAF

i have about 99% city and only get 200miles on a tank. if i baby it ill make 230ish.... took a trip today 99% hwy @ 80+ speeds and attained 338miles. I have new O2s and clean maf, wires, plugs all new. ... maybe its definitely the heavy foot and seeing 4k every time i take off? lol.

oh yeah, one more thing that works for me... When I am on the highway going... well, faster than the speedlimit... I usually pick a car that is traveling at a similar speed. I then draft him at about 3 car lenghts. I tested this theory on the NY turnpike once... got 33mpg drafting the whole way at a steady 75, but after I stopped and filled up again, and decided to stay in the lead, I got 29mpg. 4mpg doesn't seem like much, but every bit helps when the cheap stuff is still sitting at about $2.00 a gallon...

its back down into the high 180s here, i thought i was having a problem with milegde geting about 240-260 to a tank, mostly around town, some highway, but i guess i was wrong, try never taking it over 3k for a tank, if you dont get 240+ to a tank something is wrong, and it definitly sounds like 02s, there only good for about 80k miles, so its good to replace them, id go with them and id think youll definlty get better gas miledge

o, ps, dont drive 90 on the highway, that will definitly kill your mpg, every tried cruising at like 75, you get close to 30mpg, at 90 your geting probably around 20, at best, so that kills your highway miledge, but hey each car is diffrent, with new 02s, and driveing like you drive now, id think youll get around 240-250 to a tank

Well, I dont get really great mileage with a blower, and being addicted to boost, but when i got rid of Reinfarts chip/looney tune/maf, I picked up lotsa power(40 to 60 hp) and almost 3mpg (pushing into the 17mpg tanks on good days)i couldnt get a good A/F ratio out of him in a lotta chips and a dyno tune ... finally found a competent tuner and am much happier... contact Lonnie to get it right

I just ditched his chip too and my milage went up from 15 to 17.5 mixed driving. It got 18 mpg in the same driving scenarios as now, which isn't bad considering my foot got a lot heavier when the new chip went in. Also, clean your MAF. That can help bring your mpg up.

How's the tires and alignment of the wheels?

Here's a flowchart which addresses poor fuel economy - the list is rather interesting...(flowchart is from the 1995 PC/ED Manual):

mine mostly city driving and also only seeing sub 200 miles per tank. the usual tune up like new ford front 02, plugs, fuel filter, cleaned maf, m1 oil, jmod, cleaned throttle body, etc you name it i'ved done it. same thing with my 94 before too. running 89 octane always. with 87 even worse. very little heavy foot and sometimes none at all. with some heavy foot mostly only 140 to 160 miles per tank.

any ideas???:2huh:

Might be fuel pressure reg... you need to check that its in spec... maf can start going after as little as 50, 000 miles... I'm doing that good with a 5.4 and blower, go figure
Do you have a chip? there are a lot of them that are too rich floating around out there...

Well, I haven't had a chance to clean my MAF yet, and I just changed the fuel filter......

Right now I have 220 on the tank and quite a bit left about an 1/8th left, maybe I got an awsome tank of gas, I dunno.

On my next tank I am gonna run it till it dies and see how much I get then.

I'll update

Dave

PS , thanks guys!
