I recently had my codes checked and OBDII claims i have fuel vapor escaping out of my gas tank area. I checked for any visible leaks under the car. Nothing obvious like my fuel filter and line. Can't see much of course with the gas tank in the way. THe check engine light goes on and off from time to time. Anybody ever get a code like this? What should i do?

I was with my mechanic when we checked it. He told me this code meant that I must have a fuel vapor leak located in my gas tank area. Don't know the code off hand.

Did you make sure your gas cap was tight?

My gas cap is tight. Unless its defective, theres no way its my gas cap. I've filled gas atleast 10 times since I got this code. Check Engine light still goes off and on.

Without the code, we can only guess. There is a vapor valve on the gas tank that could be malfunctioning. You should also check your evap canister to see if its clogged or a hose has come off.
